Iran film to vie at Canada festival

Iranian film ‘Under the Smoky Roof’ is to vie at the Montreal World Film Festival in Canada.

Directed by Pouran Derakhshandeh, ‘Under the Smoky Roof’ will be screened at the 41st edition of the Canadian festival.

This would be the movie’s first international screening and the film will appear on the screen in Focus on World Cinema section of the festival.

‘Under the Smoky Roof’ is based on the social and emotional dilemma of divorce in Iranian culture.

The movie narrates the story of Shirin, who faces challenges in her relationship with her family and tries to mend the relations.

The film was screened at the 35th Fajr Film Festival and nominated at six different sections for the Crystal Simorgh.
